Location: Thornbury, Western Southland
Area:   330 ha total
Average rainfall:   1,100 mm
Altitude:  Approx 60 to 80 m.a.s.l.
Soils:  Heavy Waikiwi silt loams (mostly); small areas of Makarewa silt and peat
Sheep policy:  3,365 breeding ewes (Romney base) lambing September 10tth. Weaning early December and finishing all lambs to 18+ kg.cw. 985 mated ewe hoggets.
Cattle policies:  Occasionally a small number of cattle are finished.
Pasture renewal:  5 – 10% of the farm sown in new grass annually, through a rotation with Swedes and/or barley.
Production levels:  Stocking Rate – 13.5 sheep per ha. Lambing 2005 – ewes 147 % and hoggets 59%. Lambs tailed per ha – 17.5 / ha. Kg.lamb sold per ha – 250 kg.cw/ha
Stock numbers at 30 June, 2006 :  3,365 breeding ewes; 985 mated hoggets.
