1500mm.

Altitude

Range 550m at house, 815m on top.

Soils

Pumice overlay on easier parts of the block. Mudstone soils in steeper parts.

Sheep Policy


Romdale ewes mated 10 May. Ewe hogget replacements reared but not mated. Lambs sold both finished and store. Androvax used in the ewes, scanning 170%, lambing 129%. Sheep make up 50% of the stock units.

 

Cattle Policies


Buy in replacements for 175 head cow herd. Terminal sire to cows. Rear 120 bull calves plus buy an extra 100 to winter 216 R1 yr bulls. All male cattle sold before 2 years old. Cattle make up 38% of the stock units.

 

Deer Policy

Buy weaner hinds in May, sell 15 months later after second winter. Deer make up 12% of the stock units.

Pasture Renewal

None in the past, but the group are considering forage crop options.

Production Levels

Stocking rate 11.2, calving 85%, lambing 129%.
